Understanding NLP & Hypnosis

Hypnotherapy for Anxiety & Stress in Cork

Feel calmer, more in control and able to switch off.

Do you find yourself constantly overthinking, worrying about things that haven't happened yet or struggling to switch off your mind?

Perhaps you feel anxious in certain situations, find yourself expecting the worst or feel like your mind is constantly running.

You may know logically that you don't need to worry, but that doesn't always stop the thoughts or physical feelings of anxiety.

Hypnotherapy can help you develop different ways of responding to anxious thoughts, stress and the patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck.

I'm Sabrina Campbell, a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Douglas, Cork, offering personalised hypnotherapy in person and online.

Can hypnotherapy help with anxiety?

Hypnotherapy can be used to support people experiencing anxiety and stress by helping them develop calmer and more helpful responses to thoughts, feelings and situations.

Rather than simply trying to stop anxious thoughts, we can work on how you respond to them.

This may help you feel more able to manage situations that previously felt overwhelming.

Hypnotherapy may be helpful if you experience:

  • Racing or overactive thoughts
  • Constant worrying
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Stress and tension
  • Fear of particular situations
  • Difficulty switching off
  • Low confidence
  • Overthinking
  • Difficulty relaxing
  • Sleep difficulties related to stress
  • Feeling stuck in negative thought patterns

Can I have hypnotherapy online?

Yes.

I offer online hypnotherapy sessions, which means you can work with me from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Online sessions can be particularly useful if you don't live in Cork, have a busy schedule or simply feel more comfortable having your session at home.

FAQs

  • How quickly does hypnotherapy work for anxiety?

Everyone responds differently. Some people notice changes after their first session, while others benefit from four sessions. Your individual circumstances will determine what approach is most appropriate.

  • Can hypnotherapy cure anxiety?

Hypnotherapy isn't a guaranteed cure for anxiety. It can be used to support people in developing different responses to anxious thoughts, stress and situations that feel overwhelming.

  • What happens during an anxiety hypnotherapy session?

We'll begin by talking about what you're experiencing and what you'd like to change.

I'll take the time to understand the situations, thoughts and patterns that are affecting you so that the session can be tailored specifically to you.

I'll then guide you into a deeply relaxed and focused state and use personalised hypnotherapy techniques to help you develop different responses to the thoughts and feelings you're experiencing.

You remain aware and in control throughout the session.

  • What about racing thoughts?

One of the things people often describe when they're anxious is that they can't switch their mind off.

You might replay conversations, worry about the future, imagine everything that could go wrong or find yourself going over the same thoughts again and again.

Hypnotherapy can help you practise moving away from these automatic patterns and develop a calmer response when your mind starts racing.

The goal isn't necessarily to never have an anxious thought.

It's to feel more capable of responding to it without it taking over.

  • Can hypnotherapy help with stress?

Stress can affect both your mind and your body.

You may feel constantly "on", find it difficult to relax or notice that even when you have time to yourself, your mind doesn't switch off.

Hypnotherapy can help you develop relaxation skills and work on the thought patterns and behaviours that may be contributing to your stress.

  • Hypnotherapy vs counselling – what's the difference?

Hypnotherapy and counselling can both provide valuable support, but they work in different ways.

Counselling often focuses on talking through your thoughts, feelings, experiences and circumstances with a trained professional.

Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to work with thoughts, behaviours and patterns at a deeper level.

For some people, hypnotherapy may complement other forms of support they're already receiving.

If you're currently receiving treatment or support for anxiety, it's always worth discussing any additional therapy with your healthcare professional.

  • How many sessions will I need?

There isn't a fixed number of sessions that will be right for everyone.

It depends on what you're experiencing, how long you've been experiencing it and what you'd like to achieve.

Some people notice a difference relatively quickly, while others benefit from working through things over 4 sessions.

During your consultation, we'll discuss your situation and what approach may be appropriate for you.

  • Is hypnotherapy suitable for everyone?

Hypnotherapy isn't appropriate for every situation or every person.

Your first step is a conversation about what you're experiencing, your goals and whether hypnotherapy is suitable for you.

If you're experiencing severe or persistent anxiety, panic, depression or other mental health difficulties, it's important to speak with your GP or an appropriately qualified mental health professional. Hypnotherapy should not replace medical or psychological treatment where that is needed.

  • Will I be asleep during hypnosis?

No. You'll remain aware of what is happening throughout the session. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and relaxation rather than sleep.
